Physicians often recommend icing with a bag of frozen peas to help reduce swelling and pain during the first 48 hours after an injury. Holding a bag of frozen peas in place becomes tedious after a few minutes. Strap it on to keep the bag of frozen peas from slipping off. The cover is designed to hold a one pound bag of frozen peas that can be purchased at a grocery store.

We include a cloth insert filled with whole corn that may be heated in the microwave and used for heat therapy. The packet of whole corn may be frozen but will not get as cold as frozen peas because it has less water content.

Ice pack cover for a bag of frozen peas

Ice pack cover just the right size for a bag of frozen peas.

Includes cover and corn-filled insert (microwaveable) which may be replaced with a 1 LB bag of frozen peas or corn for maximum cold therapy. 7" x 9"

Whole corn will not pop in the microwave and does not require added fragrances – unlike rice socks. Microwave heat packs are convenient -- no electric outlets needed and no hot water bottles.

Stored in the freezer inside the flannel pouch either a bag of frozen peas or our whole corn insert will be ready to cool you on a hot summer day. Ease the pain or itch of an insect bite or to help soothe a mild burn. Whole corn has been dried, therefore the filling will not get as cold as frozen peas (or frozen store-bought corn). Whole corn has the versatility of being able to go in the microwave and provide heat after the swelling has gone down.

To find out when to use heat or ice for a specific injury go to the Mayo Clinic or National Institutes of Health. They have reliable up-to-date information and recommended resources for more research.
