  • Spring Cleaning Your Heating Pad: Complete Care Guide

    Apr 10, 2026

Spring is the perfect time to refresh your wellness routine, including caring for your trusted heating pad. With proper maintenance, your corn-filled warmer can last for years. Here's everything you need to know about keeping your heating pad clean, fresh, and functioning perfectly.

    Why Regular Cleaning Matters

Regular cleaning of your heating pad ensures hygiene, extends its lifespan, and maintains optimal heat performance. A well-maintained warmer will serve you reliably for years to come.

    Two Cleaning Options

    Quick Clean (Outer Cover Only)

For regular freshening up, simply remove the outer cover through the Velcro closure and machine wash it on a gentle cycle, leaving the corn-filled insert intact. This is perfect for routine maintenance.

    Deep Clean (Full Wash)

For a thorough cleaning, remove the outer cover, then open the inner cotton insert and pour out the corn filling into a clean container for safekeeping. Both the outer cover and cotton insert can be machine washed on gentle cycle. Air dry or tumble dry on low. Once dry, refill the cotton insert with the corn and reassemble.

    Inspecting Your Corn Filling

While cleaning, inspect your corn filling for signs it needs replacement: unusual odors, reduced heat retention, or visible damage. With proper care, corn filling can last for years.

    Where to Get Replacement Corn

Replacement whole feed corn can be purchased at most local grain stores or farm supply stores. We recommend checking locally first to save on shipping costs. If you can't find a local source, contact us and we'll help you out.

    Storage Tips

Store your clean, dry heating pad in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid damp areas that could affect the corn filling.
