Betsy Hanscom started Maine Warmers in September of 2000, with the encouragement of friends and relatives, happy recipients of her comforting heating pads, who found relief for all sorts of ailments. "The first microwave heating pad I made was for my husband when he could barely walk due to a muscle spasm in his back. He was amazed that a corn-filled cloth bag could supply so much relief. The fact that it was portable and that he did not have to use electrical wires or fill a hot water bottle was a bonus. Whenever I visit someone in the hospital I take a Maine Warmer instead of flowers. People are surprised and pleased with the comfort these products offer.
